BREAKING NEWS: Rio Ferdinand Hails Arsenal’s £67.5m Star as the Best Signing in the Premier League This Season

Football legend Rio Ferdinand has named one Arsenal summer signing as his “best signing in the Premier League so far”, praising the player’s seamless adaptation to Mikel Arteta’s tactical system and impact on the team’s form this season.

“Sentiment aside, he’s the best signing in the Premier League this season. The way he’s adapted to Arteta’s style still surprises me,” Ferdinand said.

Arsenal entered the October international break top of the Premier League table after a commanding 2–0 victory over West Ham, taking advantage of back-to-back defeats suffered by rivals Liverpool. The Gunners now boast the league’s best defensive record, with only Manchester City having scored more goals.

What makes Arsenal’s position even more impressive is their success despite multiple injury setbacks. Martin Ødegaard, the club captain, has been forced off in the first half of three straight games due to a recurring knee issue — a Premier League first — yet Arsenal continue to dominate across all competitions, including the Champions League and Carabao Cup.

According to Ferdinand, one major reason for Arsenal’s resilience and consistency is their £67.5 million summer signing, Eberechi Eze. Speaking on his Rio Presents podcast, the former Manchester United defender praised both the player and the club’s recruitment strategy.

“I think Arteta is sitting there saying, ‘Thank God we got Eze. Thank God the board backed me.’ He’s a ready-made replacement for Ødegaard, and that’s exactly what Arsenal needed,” Ferdinand noted.
“He could even play both Eze and Ødegaard together — it’s a great problem for Arteta to have.”

Eze, who rejected Tottenham Hotspur to join his boyhood club Arsenal in August, has already made a strong impression with three goal contributions in eight games. After initially being deployed on the left wing, the England international has now flourished in a more central attacking role, filling Ødegaard’s void with creativity, flair, and composure.

With additional summer signings like Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyökeres bolstering the squad, many pundits believe this could finally be Arsenal’s year to lift the Premier League title. Ferdinand agrees, emphasizing that Arsenal’s depth gives them no excuse not to finish the job this time.

“Arsenal probably have the best squad depth in the league right now. Every position has strong cover. When everyone’s fit, this team looks dangerous,” he added.
“They’ve got power, creativity, and players who can hurt you from anywhere. It’s a great time to be an Arsenal fan. But now, they have to finish it off — no excuses.”

With Eberechi Eze’s stunning adaptation and Arsenal’s renewed hunger for silverware, the North London club look more prepared than ever to challenge for the Premier League crown.
