Liverpool manager Arne Slot has spoken out in defense of his decision to substitute Wataru Endo instead of Federico Chiesa during the Reds’ 1–0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge — a move that has sparked mixed reactions among supporters.

“If you look at the substitution, we brought Endo on — who we normally use when we need more control,” Slot told reporters. “The final 10–15 minutes were wide open. “I don’t think it was a defensive decision,” Slot continued. “All our other substitutions were made to attack because we were still trying to find that equalizer.”
